Students
Akerman Medical Practice is a Primary Care teaching practice.
Medical Students
We teach undergraduate medical students from Kings College Medical School and St. Georges Medical School.
Year 5 students carry out regular clinics at the surgery under supervision of practice GPs. You may be booked an appointment into one of these clinics. Please be assured that a doctor will be present at this consultation.
If you are suffering from a long-term medical condition, we may request your assistance with the medical school teaching programme by organising a home visit for the students or requesting you to attend the surgery.
You are under no obligation to see these students and if you prefer not to then please advice the receptionist.
If you would like to assist the practice with teaching students please inform a member of the practice team.
Work Experience
We occasionally have 16-18 year olds from a variety of schools who want to spend one or two weeks with us during the summer for work experience. They usually spend time in the management and administration areas of the practice, but do sit in with clinicians.
You will be infomed that there will be a student during your consultation. If you feel that this will intrupt your consultation with a clinicians please let us know.
